CHINHOYI CAVES 26'

Fujifilm XE-5 · 18-50mm  ·  Digital  ·  5 frames

This collection explores the history and natural beauty of Chinhoyi Caves, one of Zimbabwe’s most remarkable landmarks. While the caves present a serene and tranquil exterior, they carry a violent history.

In the early 1800s, an aggressive tribe invaded the region, resulting in the murder of many locals. The caves became a repository for the victims’ bodies, leading to the traditional name “Chirorodziva,” meaning the “Pool of the Fallen.”

Through these photographs, I sought to capture this historic site while experimenting with techniques to achieve crisp, sharp images that showcase its unique atmosphere and landscape.
